The descent from Gorak Shep on Dingboche and Namche was not a problem except for a few putting away. After four weeks Hiking we were top fit and well acclimatized. On the last day of hiking, just three hours before Lukla, Simone has unfortunately hurt his knee. So the way back came to an unwanted painful adventure. Ultimately, however, we are good to Berlin come. Our thanks go to all helpful hikers and especially to the Sherpas of Pakding bringing Simone to the helipad and providing transportation to Lukla. Simone's knee will heal and we have now an appointment with Kala Patar in future. Nepal, we will certainly be back!
At the time of the earthquake, we were almost at the Everest Base Camp. We were lucky and we are fine! We
now descend to Lukla because we can not help here. So we decided do better make place for Help Groups. If
and when we are able to go to Kathmandu we don't know. Communications and transport are difficult.
Report of the earthquake
On April 21, 2015 at 09:30 am we reached the summit of Gokyo Ri, also called Gokyo Peak. We have bright blue sky and an incredible panoramic view. Ahead of us lies the top of the world. Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and on the left hand Cho Oyu. Below us the Ngozumba Glacier, the largest glacier in the Himalayas flows.
After six weeks New Zealand we traveled further. The South Seas will
come later because after all, we again want to go to Nepal to trek in the Himalaya's.
So we went to Bali to warm up befor we go ahead to Nepal. We are excited about
what is awaiting us here.
